Employment
Who are the JIRP Staff?
JIRP hires for a variety of staff positions each year. Staff positions are primarily non-academic, although we appreciate applicants with relevant Earth science experience. For academics-focused positions, please see our Faculty Information page.
Most staff are seasonal (May, June, July, and August) staff. There are a variety of shifts, including full-season and 2-4 week shifts, depending on the team to which staff are assigned. We hire most seasonal positions in the late Fall and early Winter. Please see below for both current openings and general information on what’s open for most seasons.
Seasonal positions are available for applicants with a variety of experience. There are options for people who mostly want to learn how to support scientific field work, as well as for people with alpine guiding certifications, significant science support experience, and carpentry/mechanical experience.
Seasonal Staff
JIRP operates with a small year-round paid staff. These folks are responsible for planning the summer field courses, making strategic plans for the organization, and hiring seasonal staff.
Positions don’t turn over often, but when we have openings we’ll post them on the Year-Round Staff Positions page.
